Lately I heard a lot of success stories about using BL67 for malposition of the foetus.
You know what I mean, a woman comes around the 34th week of her pregnancy, the baby is breech and won’t move.
These women have a very un-pleasent (to say the least) option via Western medicine, and are facing a more friendly approach that Chinese medicine provides. Bothmethods claim to work well, but with both methods there is a strong possibility that the baby will go back to breech.
And I wonder- should we always try and “fix” the baby’s position? What about the times we shouldn’t do anything? How can we tell?
The background story for my thoughts
Two and a half years ago my boy Shahar was born by C-section.
During the pregnancy everything was fine and he was always with head down, but during the 9th month, he started turning around quite often, until he decided to stay breech. I was offered the two methods to turn the baby, I thought only of BL67 with moxa, but didn’t get to it and finally had the C-section.

During the past week I read a number of interesting links about Chinese medicine.
Mind you, I feel that I have a lot to say about most of them, and maybe I will dedicate a post to each in the future, but as for now, I wanted to share these links with you.
Miriam Lee passed away at the end of June 2009.
She was the author of the book Insights of a Senior Acupuncturist and was a pioneer of Chinese medicine in California.

Promoting Chinese Medicine is very important.
We need more and more people who will explain why this amazing medicine, and we need people to show from their own experience how it simply works.
We’ve been doing this promotion in various ways- building our own websites, writing about Chinese Medicine- what it does, what it’s good for, how different it is from other methods of treatment… and it’s all good and all should go on.
Today I want to show you another way of promoting Chinese Medicine.
Lately I’ve been seeing more and more items on the Internet that we can buy and people can be exposed to the fun part of Chinese Medicine through t-shirts, mugs, mouse pads, baby cloths… and also, we get to have fun!
So let’s go shopping!

A quick note to let you know about the free on-line course with Richard Goodman.
Richard is the author of the book Classical Chinese Medical Texts- Vol. I (volume II is in the making!).
On July 15th 2009, he will begin an on-line course which actually accompanies the book, 15 lessons- one for each chapter. More info, as I copied it from WindPress:

The concept of Community Acupuncture (CA) has been introduced to me by Roy Green Pach at the beginning of the year.
Roy wrote a wonderful article for my website in Hebrew, and the reaction to it was overwhelming. It’s amazing to me that little ol’ Israel can be a part of a great movement in real time and not in a delay of a number of years! And it’s true- we have a growing number of practitioners that practice CA, and more and more people are interested in the model, and the proof is that that particulare article was probably one of the most popular in my website.
Roy approached me and together we set up a blog for CA, all in Hebrew, and people are interested- asking questions, enjoying his thoughts- and yeah, it helps that he’s a great writer. Recently Roy interviewed Lisa Rohleder, the practitioner from Portland who started it all, for his blog. Lisa felt she needed a change, as you will soon read, and she made that change: She started out with 12 patients back in 2002, and experimented a lot with the model she created.
Years later, Lisa is now seeing about 400 patients a week, charging about $15-$40 per treatment, and along with her husband Skip, she has one of the biggest clinics in the USA. I thought that it would be wonderful if that interview would be posted on CMNotes as well, as I know that CA is gaining more and more popularity around the world. I also think it’s important to let practitioners know that they have an option. Things can be different for them. Things are changing in our world, including marketing strategies and our clinics and how we run them are no exception. So I’m really happy to be part of this spirit of change, and I hope that it will strike a chord with you too! Enjoy.

I am very happy to post this review by Yael Saslove.
Yael is a known practitioner in Israel for various reasons- she’s one of the pioneers in our community who specialized in Chinese Medicine Gynecology, one of the first teachers of Chinese Medicine Gynecology in Israel, she also taught Chinese herbs and she’s a very busy practitioner.
She’s been this busy for years, and manages to juggle it all with family life, smiles, kindness and modesty.
I knew that if I will get her seal of approval of Jane Lyttelton’s courses I can be 150% sure that these courses offer real practical information for practitioners, and that it’s all good- really good.
I feel proud that one of my more important teachers of Chinese Medicine obliged to write on my humble blog, and that I can give you an expert’s opinion on an online course which is only a few mouse clicks away.

Three months ago I wrote about Acupuncture and Twitter.
It’s interesting to see how we can promote our websites and blogs through Twitter and Facebook. I mean, what does Chinese Medicine have to do with the Internet??
The more I’m working with my websites in Hebrew, and the more I write on CMNotes and promoting them with the tools mentioned above, I understand that the Internet is a great way for us to spread the good word of Chinese Medicine.
Another wonderful thing that’s happening is meeting collegues from around the world.
Before the Internet, this was a thing that could only happen if you could afford a trip to a conference, but not anymore. Thanks to the Internet, we can now sit at home and meet people on the other side of the globe, people who are interested in Chinese Medicine, people who are going through the same things we are, career-wise, and that is, to me, a very valuable thing.
We can also share information, this way we can find out about an interesting research that is being done in a different country, or about a book that is being written and might be really interesting. I love it- don’t you?

One of two courses I’m taking this year talks about the Five Elements and the Shen.
I feel it’s one of the most important courses/seminars/classes I have attended. Both subjects are deeply interesting, and at least here in Israel, there aren’t many practitioners who can tell us a lot about it. Portland’s got Heiner. The UK had Dr. Van Buren.
We have Yair Maimon.
I know Yair for 10 years now. He started out as my practitioner and quickly turned to my biggest inspiration in Chinese Medicine and my greatest teacher of the field.
After 8 years of continuing nagging and begging, he finally started a course last December, which is quickly approaching it’s end, and I feel truly blessed and a bit sad that’s it’s about to become a memory.
Still, I learn so much each lesson. And though Yair emphasizes the practical clinical part of things, I find true happiness in the theoretical part of it.

I will start by saying that I am no big expert about SEO.
I’m not a small expert either.
I’m a person who has a lot to do with websites, as this is what I do- run and manage websites- and along the way I learn new things.
Those of us who have a website, should also teach themselves about promoting the website.
If you have someone doing it for you- that’s great, but even then, there are things you can do all on your own. I think it’s important to know how to do at least some of the things by yourself, and some of it can be done completely off-line.
I am here to give 5 tips, 5 of many tips, hoping it will help you grow traffic to your website.

Today I want to take a close look at TCM Directory.
I think it’s important for all of us to be aware of the options for Internet marketing that we have around us (one of many), and sometimes, it’s good to be reminded of obvious things, like the importance of websites like TCM Directory, and the important hard work that Elie Goldschmidt puts into his directory.
A long time ago…
When I was a student, the best directory I found was Acupuncture & TCM Links of Vil’s.
This was like striking gold for me back then, and I spent hours looking through the various links.
The years went by and things changed, and now we can find other directories, one of them is TCM Directory.
