Lisa’s 10 Big Mistakes and More Thoughts

lisaOne of the things that trouble me the most is the lack of information the Chinese Medicine community in Israel has in regards to marketing and business.

This was one of the main things that drove me to open my own website, and what drove me to try and become an information center for the community in regard of Chinese Medicine, but also to be the place where people go to in order to open a clinic and actually be successful.
This might sound as if I give business consultation- which I don’t. But I do urge people to understand a number of important things:
Being a practitioner means that you are actually opening a business. No matter how you look at it, no matter what you think of business- you become a business person, and in order to do well you need to learn certain things. Another option is to hire people to do the things you don’t know how to do.

Also, I keep saying this one thing over and over again- marketing is not a a dirty word. Marketing doesn’t make you look any less holistic than a person who doesn’t use marketing. In fact, marketing is a very important word and one who decided to be his own boss must pay a lot of attention and time to marketing.
It seems that this is a world-wide problem, as these problems are very common in other Chinese Medicine communities in different countries.

What needs to happen will happen
Or- I trust the stars
I feel most things are around these 2 things- business plans, marketing plans, hiring people, pricing and so on.
It always comes back to these two things- business-like thinking and marketing.
I don’t know how much we should all know about business and marketing, but I feel that what worked for me is being aware of both, and trying to find ways to deal with these two things as best as I can. But I found that most people rather not be aware, or not deal with it, and just expect things to happen on their own, or based on good karma, or another one (one of my all time favorites): what needs to happen will happen.

“You got big dreams. You want fame.
Well fame costs, and right here is where you start paying.
In sweat” (Debbie Allen, “
Fame“)
I think that fate has nothing to do with it.
It’s not up to the stars for you to be able to earn money and feed yourself and your family from practicing Chinese Medicine. It’s only up to us.
If you studied a minimum of 4 years, and you want to earn your monthly pay from healing people or helping them, you need to work for it. And one of the things you need to know how to do is build your own business and market your business.
Debbie Allen was right about show business, and it’s just a fact- if you want success you need to work hard for it.
Some aspects of building your own business can be easier than others, and some aspects will be torture, but they need to be done.

How to build your business?
The great thing about the Internet is that everything is right there, all we have to do is look for it.
One simple search with Google can get you a long way. There’s also the option of hiring people to do all those things you are not good at, and that can actually be a smart thing. For example- I am bad about everything that has to do with taxes, keeping track of invoices and such.
After one year of trying to do it myself, I realised there’s no way I’m going through it again, and I have an accountant who takes care of my paper work. It’s a big company, they know what they’re doing and they’re very good at it- and I have peace of mind on that end.

Another thing that I strongly recommend is being in touch with other colleagues.
It can be done with friends from school, and it can be done on-line.
One of the new friends I made on-line is Lisa Hanfileti.

Lisa’s 10 big mistakes
Lisa is an acupuncturist in the USA, who writes on Insights for Acupuncturists.
Her website is filled with interesting and useful information and one can really benefit from the website.
Lisa’s new video and eBook- Lisa’s 10 big mistakes- talk about her list of 10 boo-boo’s which she shares with us, trying to prevent us from doing useless mistakes, and also educates us on how to avoid those mistakes.
That’s a very kind thought and a great thing that she gave all of us.
Yes, this video promotes another eBook, but it still is a very useful video that actually gives you tips on how to make things work well for you.
It is about 37 minutes long and totally free.

You are welcome, as always, to leave your thoughts and comments here.
Also, be sure to share Lisa’s video with other friends you think may benefit from it.
The more we share with each other, the better we all are.

  1. Acupucture says:

Good Post. Online Marketing will derive more targeted customers to your business.

  2. Oh yes.

Once you have done your affirmations and your visualizations in line with the law of attraction and added that it must be for your highest good, then the next thing is ACT UPON WHAT YOUR INTUITION TELLS YOU. Best if you have a complete marketing plan handy, so you can see where these suggestions fit and so you won’t be overwhelmed by it.
Granted, my marketing plan for my business is not as flashy as I used to device for corporations, but my business mindset has certainly helped me to be featured on TV, in the paper and to have clients from all over North America and Europe.

Btw want to join our group ‘We Are One World Healing’… info in the blog. It’s free and blissful to participate.

Thank you both for your comments.

There’s no doubt in my mind that building and marketing our clinics also needs the use of intuition.
I am afraid that many people choose intuition over simple rules that need to be applied while building a business.
    But good point!

    Thank you,
    Yael
