Mazal Tov- I have a new niece who was born on Sunday, January 25, at 16:26!
Happy birthday baby Asia!
About the name
If you thought that my name is weird- Yael, what must you think about the name Asia??
Well, it is not a very common name here in Israel, but it does exist.
And I would like to say in my brother’s and his wife’s defence, that it wasn’t so long ago that Paris was a weird name too!
The correct way to pronounce it: Ah-C-Ya.
But hey, what are the chances that you will meet her and have to say her name right?

Congratulations America!
You have a new president, Barack Obama. I have to admit, I’m jealous. What charisma! Such promise!
I think this is the first time when a political leader has spread so much joy around the world.
I watched president Obama in Washington today, and I was thinking, that he is a wonderful example of the Wood element.
Hope, dreams and the man with the plan
President Obama has a plan- for the USA and for the rest of the world.
The fact that he has a plan is so Wood element- being the one in charge, knowing what needs to be done and plan the way to do it.
This plan is not designed for war. When we think about the Wood element we sometimes think of the general in the army.
This is not the case.
In this case, the plan is directed for a better world.

I started studying the Stems and Branches this year.
I’ve been waiting to study S&B for 6 years now, and am very excited to finally dive into the world of deep energies, stems, branches and unlike Qi.
I even find the hexagrams to be quite interesting!
This course of course makes all that I heard from Prof. Heiner Fruehauf more sense.
It’s not that Heiner wasn’t clear enough. It’s all me- I didn’t know enough of the basics to fully understand him.
But I’m happy to say- I’m catching up.
Taking the pulse is like riding a bike
On class, last Tuesday, we were talking about the pulse.
It’s not boring, but the amount of information that pulse classes give you can really stagnate your brain.
I always felt some what “stuffed” after each pulse class during my 4 years in school, mainly because the teachers always use many words to convey a certain quality of the pulse.
I don’t blame them of course, it’s quite difficult to teach anything that has to do with the pulse.

I recieved 2 books by Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallee in the mail.
One of them, The Essential Woman
, is about women’s health and fertility in the Chinese classics.
Happy happy, joy joy! Here is a look at how the Chinese classics look at gynecology, a very important aspect if you ask me, especially those who chose Chinese gynecology as their main path in their clinic.
Truth should be told that I was a bit offended that Elisabeth wrote just 127 pages on the subject. Is there really so little to be said about gynecology? And no, the woman on the cover, a painting dated back to the Tang dynasty, did not make me feel any better. I thought there’s a lot more to be said…
Of course- I was correct.
I say “of course” because for a moment there, I forgot we’re talking about Elisabeth, the woman with the amazing ability to read ancient texts, collect important information in Chinese philosophy and make it all usable for us to practice daily in our clinic. Elisabeth always has a lot to say that way.
One should keep in mind that we’re talking about the classical text itself, which presents a certain amount of information. Elisabeth then translates the text so that we will understand it better.
So yes, it’s 127 pages, but just like in her other books, these are pages with wonderful deep knowledge that is worth knowing.
