The Best of 2008 on CMNotes

Posted on December 29, 2008 by YaelNo Comments

new_year_2009I’m bouncing back into action after being sick for a week or so.
As it is the end of 2008, it is only right to look back and see what on earth I’ve been upto here on CMNotes!
Turns out, I have some good stuff:

Dr. Leon Hammer is one name that keeps coming up here, as it did since my second year or so of school.
I was lucky enough to have a number of chats with Dr. Hammer over e-mails, and one of the posts I am most proud of is the interview I got to do with him.
One of his students, Ross Rosen, was kind enough to write our very first guest post here on CMNotes, about Chinese Pulse Diagnosis.

Short notice

Just a very very short notice to you all-
I’ve been sick for a week, a bit more, right after my boy was sick and got better.
Isn’t that the most important thing, that our kids are better? And then if we fall apart we can handle it…

Anyway, I’ll be back next week.
I hope you all had a great Hannukah, Christmas and if there’s another holiday being celebrated at this time I don’t know about- I hope it was a good one!

The Problem With Chinese Herbs

Posted on December 14, 2008 by Yael11 Comments

Being a mother taught me the importance of taking care of myself.
If I won’t be well, my family won’t function very well, and so I must take better care of myself, and be sick maybe once a decade. At least.
With that frame of mind I’ve been very strict with my acupuncture sessions for the past number of months.
On our last meeting 2 interesting things happened:
1. I was needled in LI-4, LIV-3 and LIV-8. This combo is pretty standard, right? Well, you won’t believe what happened to me, but this will have to wait for a different post.
2. I got a Chinese herbs formula.

You all know by now that I am not a herbs fan.
Many people don’t understand this “weird phase” that I’m going through, but since it’s been going on for the past 8 years- at least- I know that it’s a simple case of being able to connect to one method more than the other.
I connect to acupuncture wonderfully, and to the herbs I don’t connect at all- not as a practitioner and not as a patient.

Good Updates

Posted on December 10, 2008 by Yael4 Comments

Things have been wonderfully busy this week.
I have finally started 2 courses that I have been waiting to do for years:
The first one is Stems and Branches. I’ve been waiting to do this course for 6 years. It was like there was never the right time to do it. I started a Stems and Branches (or as my friend and I call it- Leaves and Twigs) twice in the past but it was never the right time, or the right teacher.
This time it’s just right.

The second course is by my mentor and practitioner. I have been nagging him to teach for 8 years!
And finally it started, yesterday, and I am so happy!
I have a feeling that I am doing a bit too much, but then I feel I can’t choose between the two.
Truthfully- I just don’t want to choose. I want to do both.
So this is the first good update I have for you.

5 Interesting Links About Chinese Medicine

Posted on December 3, 2008 by Yael2 Comments

It’s been a while since I last gave a list of interesting links here on CMNotes.
I know, there’s this category called “weekly links“, and you know as well as me, that it hasn’t been updated for a long long time. The only reason is lack of time.
But here I am now, so let’s make the most of it:

Meet my competitors is a post by Burton Kent, over at Acupuncture Clinic Marketing.
Burton lists the blogs that have good advice on how to help us promote our clinic, and to be quite honest, I think we could all use all the help we can get. 2009 seems to be a nice new year, but could be difficult where finanace is concerned, so I would imagine that those of us who have a clinic would like to get more ideas on how to keep our patients close and how to get new ones.
