Peter Deadman

Posted on September 24, 2008 by Yael8 Comments

It was just a matter of time until I would interview Peter Deadman.
After all- it’s Peter Deadman- the big blue book, the JCM…. This is definitely one of those names you learn to say really fast as of the first year in studying Chinese Medicine. And the name continues to be with us as we grow with our career.

Peter Deadman is the founder of Infinity Foods in England.
He studied Chinese Medicine with Dr. Van Buren at the International College of Oriental Medicine and has a clinic in Brighton. Deadman founded the Journal of Chinese Medicine 29 years ago, which became the most important journal of Chinese Medicine in the west. The JCM is also a publication, the most famous book to come of this publication is A Manual of Acupuncture, a must have textbook in most colleges throughout the world.
In addition, Peter Deadman was a member of The Matzos, a band in which he played the violin.

Keeping The Child Healthy With Chinese Medicine?

Posted on September 17, 2008 by Yael7 Comments

My son, Shahar (which means Dawn in Hebrew), receives acupuncture since the age of 4 months.
Long before I got married, I knew that my children will receive Chinese Medicine sessions. Being the preventing medicine that it is, it seems only right to begin working on one’s health at a very young age.
As I am very fond of combining the best of 2 worlds, we combine between Western medicine and Chinese Medicine- we have very good practitioners, and whether we go for a routine session or an S.O.S session, this combo works well.
Or so I thought until recently… It’s been 2 weeks now that I’ve been feeling that my faith is a bit shaky.

Sick boy
Shahar is sick every 2 months. More or less.
I’m not very updated about other kids, maybe I should be, but I feel that it’s a lot.
Every parent knows what it means to have a sick child- a not very happy kid, broken nights, not very good working days…
90% of the times we used acupuncture, it was the turning point of the illness. After the session our boy would be on the right track to recovery. It’s seems as though the illness is rushing to leave the body.
Truth should be told- it’s pretty amazing.

Can The Practitioner Be The Patient?

At the end of August, I went on a short, well over-due vacation along with my husband, just the two of us.
We went to a spa resort here in Israel, which spoils you rotten.
Exactly what we wanted. Some peace and quiet.

We were there for 3 days.
If you could see the out-door pool which is in the middle of a forest, you’d understand about the silence there is in this place, how life can be so relaxing and quiet…. amazing.
In the past, if someone would tell me “take 3 days off”, I’d laugh- 3 days? That’s nothing!
But now that I’m a mommy, I think “3 days?? That’s eternity!”
So our boy went to his grandparents for the weekend and we headed up north.

Chinese Pulse Diagnosis- Guest Post

Posted on September 4, 2008 by Yael3 Comments

I am happy to have my very first guest post here on CMNotes!
I am very happy that the first guest post is about a very important subject in Chinese Medicine- the pulse.
Ross Rosen is a very busy man and I was thrilled that he found the time to write about his experience with Dr. Leon Hammer, an interesting practitioner in Chinese Medicine.

The post reminded me of this one session with my healer and mentor, who told me that my pulse is like “riding horses”.
This might explain the attached photo.

The Monthly Round Up- August 2008

It’s been quiet lately here on CMNotes.
Things have been really crazy around here this summer, and I must share with you- I am at a crossroads and not really sure of how things will continue on CMNotes.
I do know that I love the platform and continue to write, but what are my goals? What do I want to achieve with CMNotes?
Of course, I have obvious reasons to write- I enjoy it, I love Chinese Medicine, I love connecting with all of you and I love to spread the good word of Chinese Medicine around the world, even if I am from little ol’ Israel. Is there more? Do I need more? Can I do more?
These are the things I need to figure out.

One of the things that I hope will help me come to some conclusions (even 1 will be enough!) is looking through at what I have already uploaded here on the blog.
One way to do this is to see what went on here on August:
