Weekly links- July 24

Posted on July 24, 2008 by Yael

It’s been a while since the last weekly links was posted.
Things are still a bit messy when I look at my work-time, but hopefully this will change a bit next week and will change more dramatically as August unfolds.
Thank you all for your patience, it is very appreciated!

Acupuncture Today is a website that always leaves me a bit confused. When I look at the website, I can obviously see a lot of information. But then a closer look at some of those articles makes me wonder about the editor’s guidelines. Maybe this happens because I tend to be less TCM, or maybe it has to do with different strokes, but I always get that confused feeling after visiting the website.
2 articles caught my eye on the recent newsletter from AT:

Viral Marketing- a very well written article (in my humble opinion) by Burton Kent, the author of Never Market Again.

A Brief Biography of Hua Tuo- a very interesting look at Hua Tuo by John Chen.

Amy Chitwood over at Portland Acupuncture Blog mentioned an article about face-lift via acupuncture.
This thing is starting to really pop up around me. Not only did I mention this before here on CMNotes, I also started to hear about a course that will take place in one of the big schools here in Israel.
Maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye?

Another interesting post from Amy is about PanAfrican Acupuncture Project, a project with a noble cause.

It is time to take a look at what Eric Grey is up to over at Deepest Health.
I tell you, the moment you have less classes in school you feel like you have A LOT of time on your hands, and it seems that Eric is putting the spare time on his hands to good use.
I love Deepest Health, I stated this before and I guess I’ll state it again and again. The new posts by Eric are interesting as ever and the fact that they are more frequent is just- well- great.
I have to admit to another reason for loving Eric’s blog.
Eric studies with Prof. Heiner Fruehauf.
Yes, I know, I mention this name a lot, but it’s with good reason- I promise.
Having a direct link to one of Heiner’s students is as good as it gets for me, I guess, as I can’t just leave everything and go from Israel all the way to Portland and study with Heiner.
Yes, we have a number of wonderful and very inspiring teachers here in Israel, but there is only one Heiner, as my own mentor here said.

Want an example?
From all the new posts Eric posted lately- including podcasts- I urge you to read Learning About the Lung Through the Chinese Medicine Organ Clock.

Look what I found on ITM Online! Heiner Fruehauf’s lecture from 2004 about The 5 Organ Network of Chinese Medicine. Him again?! hehehe, see, I’m not the only one who thinks his work is very very important.

I leave you with an interesting website about the Shang Han Lun. Take a look.
I don’t know much about this important book, and I think this website is important for the fact that it brings the book to the Internet crowd.
This would be another good way to learn more about the Shang Han Lun.

I tend to agree with you on AT. It seems like there is a lot of imformation out there, but for some reason it lacks a coherency. One could peruse the entire thing very quickly and be uncertain if any thing settled in. Though there are at times when a particular article would grab a hold of you.

    Hi Edwin,

Thank you for your comment, and for validating what I feel about AT!
I thought I was the only one.

    Thanks and take care,
    Yael
